Snooker superstar Ronnie O’Sullivan has expressed his desire to achieve the “dream story” of his illustrious 32-year professional career by securing a record eighth world title. The legendary player, often referred to as the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) in the sport, is currently tied with Stephen Hendry for the modern-day record of seven world titles and is eager to surpass this milestone.

O’Sullivan’s quest for glory was evident as he advanced to the last 16 of the Xi’an Grand Prix with a convincing 5-2 victory over Hungarian sensation Bulcsu Revesz. The Englishman’s passion and drive to succeed at the highest level were on full display as he expressed his aspirations during his trip to China.

In a recent interview, O’Sullivan revealed his deep-rooted desire to add another world title to his already impressive collection. Reflecting on his career, he emphasized the significance of winning an eighth world championship before retiring from the sport.

“Over the last two years, I have won a lot of tournaments, but not really enjoyed it,” O’Sullivan stated. “I don’t have to win any more, I have had an amazing career. If there is one thing I would love to do, it’s to win another World Championship. That would be eight, and then I would have every record there is.”

The snooker icon acknowledged the legacy of Stephen Hendry, with whom he currently shares the record for most world titles won in the modern era. However, O’Sullivan expressed his eagerness to write a new chapter in the history of the sport by claiming an unprecedented eighth world championship.

“I’m tied on seven with Stephen Hendry which is still a great achievement, but it would be nice to have them all,” O’Sullivan remarked. “That would be a dream story, to be able to look back on my career when it’s over.”

O’Sullivan’s competitive spirit and unwavering determination were evident as he looked ahead to his upcoming match against Hossein Vafaei in the last 16 of the Xi’an Grand Prix. The five-time world champion underscored the challenges of the Crucible Theatre and the demanding nature of the World Snooker Championship.

“I’d love to try to win the Crucible,” O’Sullivan emphasized. “It is a hard tournament and 17 days is a long time. A lot can happen there. I’d love to win that another time to make it eight. There are so many good players around, so you have to get a little bit of luck and play some good snooker at the right times.”

As O’Sullivan continues his pursuit of snooker greatness, fans and critics alike eagerly anticipate his quest to cement his legacy as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport.
