In a recent statement, Judd Trump expressed his admiration for his rivalry with John Higgins, calling it one of the best in the world of snooker. As the defending champion in the Wuhan Open, Trump emphasized the importance of being at his absolute best to secure a spot in the quarter-finals against Higgins, a formidable opponent.

The history between Trump and Higgins dates back to world finals in 2011 and 2019, with each player claiming victory in one of those matches. Despite Higgins’ earlier triumph, Trump, the current world No.1, has dominated in their recent encounters, winning six out of their last 10 matches.

Reflecting on his rivalry with Higgins, Trump shared his thoughts, courtesy of World Snooker Tour: “I find it easier playing John because I know I have to play at my absolute best to stand a chance. John is in good form and I will have to play well and improve if I am going to win.”

He added, “If you look at the top five or ten games I’ve been involved in, then at least two or three are with him. There have been some great memories in the games between us.”

Trump’s journey in the Wuhan Open has been eventful, with a solid performance against Anthony McGill paving the way for the highly anticipated clash with Higgins. The defending champion has participated in 14 tournaments this year, showcasing his consistent form and skill on the snooker table.

Meanwhile, in other matches, Ding Junhui displayed his strong form by defeating Yuan Sijun 5-2. Ding praised the improvement in Chinese players’ technical skills and experience, noting their ability to compete effectively with a diverse range of opponents.

With Ding advancing to face Chris Wakelin, who secured a decisive 5-0 victory against David Lilley, the competition in the Wuhan Open is heating up. As the tournament progresses, fans can expect more thrilling matches and fierce competition on the snooker table.
